Offerton Park season review & Presentation 2016 - 17
The season started very well with to very convincing wins. A 9 - 1 victory against Adswood Reserves and a 7 - 1 against Milbrow Reserves and a 6 - 1 win against AFC Stockport 4th in the Stockport FA Trophy.
Offerton Park was brought back down to earth when we were drawn against Premier league champions, Cheshire Cup, and North West champions of champions winners Cale Green. We unfortunately well beaten 14 - 0.
Then after that game we went on a 6 game losing streak. With a 3 - 0 victory against Milbrow Reserves put an end to the losing streak.
There is one reason why the overall season has been a disappointment this is due to consistency with players not turning up week after week.
With a strong 11 Offerton Park Fc can compete with any team in the league.
There has been a couple of a positive results this season with 5 - 5 draw against eventual 3rd places team AFC Carnforth and a 2 - 1 win against AFC Stockport reserves. But for the most disappointing result this season was the 11 - 1 defeat in the revised fixture against AFC Stockport Reserves. In that particular game what was disappointing was the lack of discipline, desire, and just giving up on the game, were the reasons why we were beaten in such a manner.
The season has seen Offerton Park FC sign some very strong players midway through the season:-
Goalkeeper Hassan Ben Halam
Central Defender- Gareth Eccleston
Central Midfielder - Sean O Kane
Unfortunately for myself I have decided to step down as Manager of Offerton Park FC. I would like to introduce joint managers Callum Burgin and Jimmy Stevens who have been tasked with rebuilding Offerton Park FC.
The signs have been very positive with new signings which hopefully will improve our chances of promotion.
This season has seen SDSFL restructure the league and for me this is a really challenge for the two new managers.
There are 5 teams that can win the league this season
Champions of 4th division Littlemoor
Houldsworth WMC
Union FC
Not to mention
Edgeley Villa
AFC Carnforth
I am also delighted to welcome Offerton Park FC new sponsors of our brand new home shirts Georgian Hollies Hotel - Blackpool
Let's hope for a successful season
